Open AI’s Project Mercury aims to automate the work done by junior investment bankers (balance sheet analysis, cashfow statement, valuations etc) by building AI models using the knowledge of 100 former Investment bankers at $150 per hour. The result is likely to be 200,000 job losses and $180bn in profits. Amazon has confirmed cutting jobs by 14000.
This is a clash of technology innovation and progress versus the well being and employability of human beings. The blind eye turned to these life-disrupting changes by the powers that be have the potential to destroy the earning capability of individuals.
